General description

The Fiat Coupe and Cabriolet, designed by Pininfarina, are sports cars produced by Fiat between 1959 and 1966 and derived from the 1200 Convertible.

A Fiat 1500 spider at the Concours d'Elegance in Cortina d'Ampezzo in the summer of 1959
In the late fifties the House of Turin decided to build, using the mechanics and the floor of the 1200 Convertible, a spyder taste more elegant and European. The fine (and very classic) body designed by Pininfarina covered the mechanics completely unchanged (except for a slight increase in power 59cv of 4 cylinders 1221cm ³). Despite the official name was 1200 Cabriolet, the new car (launched 1959) was a true spyder 2 seats.
At the end of that year, the version with 1.2 liter engine was flanked by the more powerful 1500 S Cabriolet, driven by an engine of 1491 cm ³ DOHC Osca, capable of delivering 80 hp. The 1500 S, recognizable by the new overlay incorporating that of 1200, also had front brakes disco.Alcune 1500S OSCA were set up directly in the workshops and can be recognized visually in the Appendix for a more aerodynamic shape that made them more aggressive in line and above the engine had 20 hp more than the Fiat produced cousins. These custom-built cars are still much sought after because they are very rare.
