General description

Derived from the Giulietta Spider. The cars are almost identical, except for the existence of an air intake on the hood of Julia, for the words "1600" on the tail of the latter and for the shape of the holes in the rim. Other differences are in the interior, more precisely in the characteristics of the steering wheel and appearance of the dashboard.
Of this model was also marketed a version Fast, which was driven by a more potente.Il engine was a four-cylinder in-line front longitudinal displacement of 1570 cm ³. The bore and stroke were respectively 78 mm and 82 mm, while the compression ratio was 9:1. The crankcase and cylinder head were made of light alloy. The maximum power output of the engine was 92 hp at 6200 rpm for version "Normal", while it reached 112 hp at 6500 rpm for the "Fast".
The distribution consisted of two valves per cylinder, which had moved from a dual overhead camshaft. The power version of "Normal" was assured by a Solex carburettor brand and model 32 PAIRS 5, while the version "Fast" were two carburetors. The cooling system was water circulation.
The transmission consisted of a synchronized five-speed manual gearbox that had the final reduction ratio of 8/41.
For the first models built, the brakes were drum brakes on all four wheels. In 1963 they were offered as an optional front disc brakes, which became standard the following year. The front suspension was independent and had installed an anti-roll bar, while in the rear there was a solid axle.
The maximum speed reached by the model was of 172 km / h.
